The art of glass painting started many years ago. During the Mughal era this technique was used to paint window panes.
In the modern age it is one of the easiest and most famous forms of art which is not very difficult. All you have to do is buy some paints and you can start painting your room windows, old glasses, used bottles, glass containers etc. In short you can become an artist just by using some simple techniques.
Things required
* Glass paints (basic colours).
* Lead (black, golden).
* Paint brushes (1 numbered).
Basic colours include red, green, yellow, blue etc.
Procedure
Take a clean glass to be painted. You can paint on a drinking glass, bottles, window panes etc. Now make the design of your choice, say you choose to paint a rose with the help of a pen on the surface of the glass. Now outline the drawing with the help of liquid lead. Hold the liquid lead tube at a distance of about one inch from the surface of the glass and outline the design slowly and carefully.
Let the lead dry for at least an hour.
When the lead is dry take a clean number one paint brush and dip it into red colour and paint the petals using a single coat of paint. When the first coat dries, paint another coat in a single stroke.
If you want to shade the painting let the second coat dry and then apply shade. You can paint the leaves and stems in a similar manner.
Sprinkle glitter on the painting while the paint is still wet to give a glamorous look. You can experiment with your own colours and designs, but the basic techniques will not change.
Pointers to avoid errors
* The surface of the glass should be very clean.
* To make a thin outline make sure that the tip of the lead tube should not touch the glass surface.
* To prevent mixing of liquid lead and paints, let the lead dry off completely.
* The direction of paint strokes should not be random.
* Avoid applying too many layers of paint. This will negatively affect the glass.
