Book: Roaming the universe

By Sabeen Idris

In the second part of the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Universe, Arthur, Ford, Trillion and Zaphod continue to roam the Universe in their super space ship, the Heart of Gold. Often bumping into theories of what seems to be the true meaning of life, they only find everything becoming even more bizarre and each successive theory falling flat!

Zaphod, the two-headed protagonist of the story is still wrestling with his brains, trying to figure out why one is trying to control the other, while at the same time fending for himself and his friends from an imminent Vogon attack. They seem to be in pretty good shape for defence until Arthur, paralyses the ship’s computer systems by asking it to make him a decent cup of tea!

The finale comes when everyone decides to grapple with the biggest question of all, ‘where to go for dinner?’ Travelling a few billion years in time, but not an inch in space they come to the Restau-rant at the end of the Universe, where if you order roast lamb, you have to be prepared to have the lamb walk up to you and personally ask you which part of it you’d like to feast on. If you thought your dreams were wild this book is wilder. As the unsuspecting reader, let me warn you, this is one joyride through the Universe you will never forget!
