Neo and company return in one of the most anticipated sequel of this summer: The Matrix Reloaded. The movie picks up where The Matrix terminated.
The last underground real-world city, Zion is about to be attacked by an army of 250,000 machines (who have caged the human race within the confines of the Matrix). Whilst the human rebels make arrangements to resist the invasion, The One: Neo (Keanu Reeves) finds out more about his super-heroic powers and what he has to do to fulfil the prophecy. Neo has nightmares about the death of Trinity (Carrie-Ann Moss) and he is apprehensive about her safety in the Matrix. According to the instructions of the Oracle, Neo seeks out the key maker after combating heart-stopping villains. Agent Smith (Hugo Weaving) has apparently survived his annihilation at the end of The Matrix and he is back with a vengeance. The “reel” eye opener comes when Neo has to wrestle more than a hundred “agent Smiths” simultaneously.
Brace yourselves as Neo wages a quest to reach the ultimate source of the Matrix. However, the second installment in the Matrix trilogy is more hype than substance, more brawn than brain. The prolonged and pointless action-crammed scenes are overly cooked, making it less sensational than its predecessor. It merely goes to show that the movie relies chiefly on the action hullagulla wherever the story line becomes too weak to sustain the interest of the viewers.
Mistreated by a hiccuping storyline and burdened with redundant fight-and-chase sequences, The Matrix Reloaded is not every cinegoers cup of tea!
