STORY TIME: All is well that ends well

By Maria Sair

Ali was a very adventurous boy. He loved adventures. As he was the only child he got everything he needed. One day his parents told him that they were going to England by themselves and Ali has to go to his uncle in Canada. Ali was very happy. He liked his uncle very much.

So the next week Ali was with his uncle. Ali got used to life there. Some days later a man came to their house looking for a job. As his uncle was very rich and had many servants he also hired him. Somehow, Ali got very suspicious about the new servant. He was deaf but could talk. Ali told his uncle about his suspicions but he only laughed at him. He would be discussing his financial issues with his lawyer in the servant’s presence; his uncle felt there was nothing wrong with his presence as he could not hear.

Once there was a robbery at the bank. Fifty thousand dollars had been stolen and on that day the servant had taken the day off. Ali’s suspicions towards the servant grew by the second. Then one afternoon Ali saw the servant coming home with a bag. Ali asked the servant what was in the bag but he did not reply. He went to his room discreetly followed by Ali.

He went in the room and locked the door. A few minutes later he came out of his room and went inside the house to Ali’s uncle. Ali got his chance and went in the room and started looking for the bag. As he was looking under the bed, he heard the door open. He quickly got under the bed. The servant came in and opened the cupboard; taking the bag out he sat on the wooden floor. Ali’s heart started to beat fast. He saw him pull out the wooden plank from the floor and under it there was a small opening where precious belongings could be stored. Ali was seeing this from under the bed. The servant opened the zip and, to Ali’s astonishment, out came a hoard of money. Ali couldn’t believe his eyes. So he had stolen the money from the bank. The servant put all the money under the wooden plank and went away.

Ali saw his chance and came out from under the bed and went inside the house and telephoned the police. After some time they got there and arrested the servant. Ali was given a new bicycle as a reward by the authorities. He was extremely happy.
