MUSIC: Atomic kitten

By Taimur Saleem

It seems that the Atomic Kittens have finally found their truly divine voice with their second album entitled Feels So Good, which is indeed a commendable venture. The singing talents of these crooners are well presented in this album. The entire album has a carpe diem feel to it that makes it much better than their debut album, Right Now. The cheerful vocals and the well thought out lyrics go a long way in making this album contagious and infectious! Undoubtedly, the album will carve a good niche in the highly competitive pop scene. The style has congealed and infallibility has been replaced by perspicacity and discernment. Every song mirrors a glaze of the malleability and versatility of the Atomic Kittens.

The group sounds much more self-assured and mature with its second offering. The songs in the album are a beautiful fusion of captivating tunes, gorgeous melodies, catchy jargons and raging rhythms. The best track is The Tide Is High, which really levitates the listeners and charges them with a mirthful and upbeat voltage. It is a very appealing song with avid and ardent lyrics and radiates the Atomic Kitten’s sanguinity and resilience. It is basically an old hit by Debbie Harry that has been re-sung by them. This song has made it to number one in the UK charts, cementing the Atomic Kitten’s popularity.

It’s Ok, is a nice song as well, that was in fact the first song of the album that created ripples across the music charts. None other than Kylie Minogue penned the title song, Feels So Good, which has been melodiously sung by the Atomic Kittens. The song has an ethereal quality that will make you sway and gyrate with the Atomic Kitten(s)! The heart-tugging tune of this song is simply enticing.

Love Doesn’t have To Hurt is the quintessence of tranquillity and transports the listeners to an urbane world of austere elegance. Other songs are exquisite and unique in their own way but the most all-encompassing effort has been put into Whole Again. The tune of this song is supple, smooth and simple with candid beats in the background. It imbibes the true private emotions of the trio and explicitly conveys them to their fans.

All in all, this is a very creative, profound and original effort by the Atomic Kittens. Trust me, you won’t have to skip the tracks when you listen to this one. This robust album is definitely a good purchase; so go for it!
