THE Pakistan Air Force has started inducting girls in its GDP branch. And currently there are a number of female cadets being trained at the Risalpur Academy. This is a commendable step by the government and has made the people of this country realize that women too are capable of defending their country. At this point I’d like to request the government to recruit girls for posts in the Navy and Army as well. I’m sure if they can defend the country in the air they can do so at sea and on land as well.

Peace & love
I THINK that the people have forgotten or in some cases don’t even know the meaning of the words ‘peace’ and ‘love’.
Nowadays, no matter where you turn, you will only find words such as war, killing, terrorism, kidnapping etc. Nowhere can you find peace. Some time ago on a TV channel I heard some people saying that peace is necessary to establish friendly relations. Then, why aren’t people trying to live in a friendly fashion? Love, care, understanding, tolerance and friendship are not just beautiful words they are principles that every human being needs to live by. But unfortunately, everywhere in the world there is hatred. We must realize that if we have faith, unity, peace, love and discipline we can change this world into a heavenly abode.

One nation one land
I WANT to tell the people of my country that it’s important for us to be united. Being jealous of each other and fighting over petty issues does not help. Jealousy and rift leads to destruction and weakens our base. We should love our country as well as its people. Let’s promise ourselves to remain more united.

Save the world
WHAT is war? The people living in countries where they have never ever seen a war are not aware of the reality of war. The pain, the loss, the screams and the nightmare, all these add up to one word and that is war! During the war in Iraq, did anyone ever think about the danger and the pain the people of Iraq experienced?
People living in other countries are just living through their normal routines not thinking of the suffering masses in that country. They don’t think about the children who died or lost their relatives in this disastrous war. It’s time for all the inhabitants of the world to join hands and strive to make this world a better place.

A state of shame
AS a student, I’ve observed that students these days have become extremely mean and selfish. They do not take into consideration the hard work their teachers put in to help prepare them for their examinations. They seem to have forgotten all moral values and use abusive words for their teachers and imitate them in the most despicable manner imaginable. Our teachers do their best to make us good human beings. They are the only people who stand second to our parents. We must respect our teachers and try to do our best to get good results. This is all what they expect from us.

Deplorable state of schools
I WANT to throw light on the deplorable conditions of government schools. A month or so ago I took board examinations for class IX. My centre was a government school. The heat was unbearable those days and to my utter surprise there were no fans in the building! No lights, no proper ventilation system, and uncomfortable benches that were too small to sit on. It was hell in there.
In another room a piece of concrete from the roof fell, missing a girl by an inch. The school authorities should get some funds allocated to better the condition of their schools. How can we see our Pakistan develop with this going on?
