The album kicks off with Fuzon singing their ever-popular Saagar which really is an ideal song for beginning an album. The song appeared in serial “Jab jab dil mile” and leaves you in a better mood with its wonderful vocals. Teri yaad by Sajjad Ali, which is one of the two official sound tracks of Zulfiqar Sheikh’s “Thori khushi thora ghum”, enthrals listeners with its beautiful composition, rendition and lyrics. Another Waqar Ali composition Aansoo for another Zulfiqar Shiekh-play by the same name is sung brilliantly by Ali Azmat. Azmat’s powerful vocals along with the song’s intriguing lyrics fascinate you.
Hadiqa Kiani’s best comes in the form of Woh kaun hai which not only made Sultana Siddiqui’s play by the same name, popular but also helps listener’s move on through the album in a better mood. Director Najam-uz-Zaman used former Pakistani and currently Bollywood’s hit man Adnan Sami’s Kabhi to nazar milao in one of his “Ek mohabbat sau afsaney” play. The song, with its romantic lyrics and composition justifies its place in this collection.
Two more official sound tracks from Zulfiqar Sheikh’s plays, one from “Des pardes” and another from “Thori khushi thora ghum” feature in this collection. Uzma Shah uses her vocal chords to the best of her abilities in the first one while Waqar Ali shines as a composer and a vocalist in the other.
Faisal Latif makes his presence felt by getting himself enrolled through Sab maya hai which he sang for “Maya aur monsoon”. The appeasing number, quite popular when it appeared on TV, is still going strong due to Faisal’s soothing vocals. Same can be said for the melodious Tina Sani who sings Zindagi to perfection. The seasoned crooner prefers quality over quantity which is one reason why she doesn’t sing much these days. But when she does, she does it so well!
The album ends with Akbar Ali singing the popular Saathi mere which first made it to the airwaves when it was used in “Dasht” in the early 90s. The song was also copied across the border by leading playback singer Kumar Sanu a couple of years back in his solo album “Kehna tau hai”. The original number makes its re-entry through teleplay “Dulhan”. Its simple-but-effective lyrics, catchy beat and vocals, leaves a lasting impression.
Lesser known songs such as Chehray and Pehli nazar combine to complete this well compiled album. Do get it. It is good.
