The Brit boy, Robbie Williams, is back with his 5th solo album. “Escapology” has some decent and mature tracks. But in-depth listening of Robbie’s music clearly shows that he is a narcissist pop star. His ego is one of the pivotal ingredients of his music. In his latest album as well you get to hear numbers where Robbie is just concerned about himself staying aloof from the rest of the world.
The catchy track Feel which is also the first single of the album is by far the best piece in this latest offering. The combined effect of background music, Robbie’s impressing vocals and mature lyrics will surely force you to play the song again and again. He sings I don’t wanna die, but I am not keen on living either ... I just wanna feel being in love... Cause I got too much life... Running through my veins... Going to waste. I sit and talk to God and he just laughs at my plans. Now you know why I call him a narcissist?
Then you have Monsoon with its loud riffs and soaring vocals while Sexed up is a mellow number. Robbie sings, Why don’t we break up, I’ve nothing left to say... I’ll go and find another you which is a continuation of his egoism.
Revolution is another loud tune. Me and My Monkey again is about Robbie’s narcissism with its orchestrated sounds that shifts the tempo.
You can only enjoy the album if you can accept Robbie’s individuality. One wishes that something else impresses Robbie other than himself in his next album. Still, those who are seeking ‘escapism’ surely cannot escape from this album.
