I study in class IX and I am in a terrible mess. I can’t concentrate on my studies, although I am one of the best students in class. Another thing is that whenever I learn anything from my course, I forget it in one or two days. Please help me as my exams are near.

Just the thought of a Herculean task ahead of you puts you off it. Don’t consider your exams such a big deal. One fine day take out all your text and exercise books, and place them subject wise on your reading table. Take a large calendar and hang it above your table. Schedule your days as you deem fit, doing justice to each subject. Then follow the timetable as much as you can. Go ahead, do it right now.
To be able to concentrate, you’ll have to get the fidgets out first, so keep a small portion of the day for entertainment as well. Choose a time when concentration and absorption are at a minimum. I still remember all my notes from grade VII and onwards. I used this method: Get a new journal for revision of notes. Divide it into sections per subject. To memorise, use the left and the right sides of your brain. The left side of your brain retains info, but too much of it can cause confusion. Highlight all the key points and words, and memorise these only. Then write these down, topic wise. Once you know these, the rest of the passage will come rushing to you. The right side of your brain stores pictures. Next to or below your key points, make topic webs using rough drawings. For example, if your have to learn something about water, draw a blue patch in the center, then draw lines going outwards. At the end of these, you can illustrate the different subheadings, like properties, composition, etc, and then illustrate these further.
