Ever wondered if the ghost stories you may have heard often are really true? Don’t spirits fascinate you? You must have read a thousand myth-busting stories before but none can match Mythbusters by Bowvayne.
Surprisingly, the stories in the book do not give you the creeps. Nor do they upset you in any way. Instead this collection tells the tale of four outrageously enthusiastic myth busters; Bowvayne, Chris Strange, Ian Digweed and Andy ‘Get Stuffed’ Barber (who is the latest addition to the group). Bowvayne has a way with narrating the incidents, recollecting even the smallest of details, making the most terrifying moments seem like a mere scene from a ridiculous horror film and yet all of it is true. Discussing how their whole obsession started, the first few pages introduce the myth busters in a fairly detailed and hilarious manner.
From 1990 to 1996, ‘Mythbusters’ (as they are called) dealt with 207 mythbuster cases. Apart from the four cases that are stated here, nothing remotely interesting happened in the rest. Case histories of these four paranormal hunting sprees indicate that there are indeed strange forces and spirits at work in discrete parts of the world. For instance, the first case is about Clapham Wood, Sussex, London where UFO appearances and other super natural activities were reported. The ‘Mythbusters’ also travel world-wide for other cases, firstly to investigate a ghost’s appearance in the Melbourne Cemetery and then, to learn the truth about some strange animals believed to inhabit in the sands of Australia’s little desert, between Melbourne and Adelaide. In all, they experienced powerful forces at work and concluded that the rumours were indeed for real and ghosts and spirits actually existed.
The book is full of surprises for readers who believe paranormal stuff to be spooky and grim. You will have quite a few good laughs I guarantee. And yet you will be enthralled by the alluring way Bowvayne unravels the Mythbusters’ adventures from England to the Maldives and then to down under.
