Multipod batteries
QUESTION: I have an Octave Multipod 5-in-1 morphs. I’ve had it for one-and-a-half years and now I’m facing trouble with the batteries which will not charge properly. Can you please tell me what the problem might be and if there is any place from where I can get my Multipod fixed?

EDITOR’S REPLY: After a year and a half, you cannot possibly expect these batteries to last. Such rechargeable batteries have a maximum number of hours before their performance begins to decline, especially if they have been used heavily. Try getting new batteries.
For technical repair, your local computer vendor might be a better person to guide you.
However, in my experience, most technicians still cannot handle such equipment and in most cases damage the hardware beyond repair. So I would suggest that you exercise extreme caution in selecting the person who should attempt to fix it.
Mail storage
I want to increase my Hotmail account storage to 250MB. I signed up to Hotmail, with the same (Florida) settings about six months ago, but the storage capacity is stuck at 25MB.

It is Hotmail’s own policy as to how and when they will increase the storage space of their users. However, I would suggest that you contact Hotmail technical support and ask them directly.
Hard drive capacity
1. The hard drive partition of my WinXP P4 processor shows 2.61GB capacity when I select all the components. But the drive’s disk cleaner shows 3.67GB of filled space. I have scanned the drive for any trojans, vir-uses and bad sectors several times but everything seems to be okay.
2. My internet explorer has been invaded by a website setter. No matter how many times I change the settings to “about blank” or some other page, it changes by itself to some other site. The bar is visible on Windows Explorer or Internet Explorer windows but it can’t be seen in “Add/Remove Programs”

1. Your OS has many hidden files which you will not detect by simply using properties. To get a better idea about your hard disk, use ‘partition magiç 8.0’.
2. You can try ‘Ad Aware Se’ from www.download.com to get rid of the spyware on your system. After that visit http:// housecall.trendmicro.com.
Messenger problem
I have a P3 with Windows 98, second edition. When I download MSN messenger 7, it downloads completely but then says that the system does not fulfill certain requirements. And when I do not upgrade the Messenger then my MSN does not work.

UML diagram
I am preparing my final project, which is “chess game between two computers”. I have to make a diagram, use cases, and sequence diagram. I do not know how to do it. I mostly make UML diagrams for any system and have never made a UML diagram for a website.

Installing WinXP
My PC has Intel Chipset motherboard and 667MHz Pentium 3 remark. I want to install Windows XP on my PC, but when I insert the XP CD files the system goes to recovery console. Presently, I have Window 98 installed.

Your system may not be meeting the complete system requirements of WinXP, including at least 128MB RAM, 500MB of free hard disk space and a 32MB VGA Card. Please ensure the requirements are met before proceeding with the installation.
Graphic card
I have an Nvidia 6600 graphics card. The problem is that while I am working, my display becomes distorted all of a sudden and Windows stops functioning properly. I have reinstalled Windows, but the problem persists. I can only run my computer in safe mode now. What could be the problem?

You either have a problem with the driver or with the hardware. Please consult a proper technician for this.
Infected system
1. Whenever I start Internet Explorer it opens the link “http:///” and in Options, the “Use Blank” button is disabled. Also my IE works very slowly.
