Question: I use Gmail with Outlook Express. I have activated Gmail’s POP3 service, but I can’t send or receive emails through Outlook Express. I am also using Norton Internet Security 2005, which was working fine previously, but now it gives the following error: “The connection to the server has failed. Account: ‘gmail id@gmail.com, Server: ‘pop.gmail.com’, Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, Secure (SSL): Yes, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E.” I have tried using Gmail’s auto configuration software and have reinstalled Windows, but the problem persists. Please help.

Editor’s reply: Your problem lies with Norton Antivirus. Outlook Express has problems with antivirus software when its “e-mail scanning” feature is turned on. Norton has a “Scan All Outgoing/Incoming Mail” option, which is not very compatible with Gmail’s SSL feature and has been known to cause a lot of conflicts with accounts. It corrupts the actual Outlook Express account while scanning Gmail. Thus, simply disabling or uninstalling the antivirus will not fix the problem. The corrupt account has to be deleted and rebuilt from scratch. To resolve this, first disable “Scan all Outgoing/Incoming mail” from Norton’s Internet Security Feature. Second, recreate your Gmail settings — login to your account recreate Gmail settings for POP3. Third, open Outlook Express and delete the Gmail account you’ve set up there. Fourth, exit Outlook Express. Fifth, open OE and then recreate the Gmail account, ensuring that you use “465” for SMTP (outgoing) and “995” for POP (Incoming) in Advanced settings.

There is no particular site for cheats, because none of the websites are comprehensive. Search with name of the game along with the word “cheats”. You’ll find plenty of sites that offer cheats for your games. For web hosting, I prefer www.fortunecity.com, www.geocities.com, www.freeservers.com or www.freewebhosting.com.
Parsedles error
Whenever I switch on or restart my computer, the following message appears: “Parsedles: this program has performed an illegal operation and should be shutdown.” When I close the bar, Windows continues to run normally. How do I get rid of this problem? I made a backup of MS Office 97 and Windows XP in my hard drive, but when I run them, I always get an error. Please tell me what to do. Finally, whenever I download any software from internet, it always gives an error when I run setup. What should I do?

For proper authentication, you will require a database running on your server and you’ll need to program in PHP or ASP/JSP. Please visit www.webmonkey.com to learn how to do that. Will Fedora Core 2 RedHat conflict in any way with my previous Windows XP installation? Secondly, I have four disk partitions in Windows (C, F, G and H) and I want to install Fedora Core 2 Linux in H:\. Can I do this without losing any data? Thirdly, I want to install Linux properly. Please help.

For your first two questions, Linux is a great OS that runs perfectly well with WinXP and so far, I have never suffered any data loss because of Linux. For your last question, please read the “ReadME” file that comes with the CD. That will explain the entire process in detail.
CD burning
I have songs in different formats (WMA, MP3, RAM, etc.) I want to burn an audio CD in CDA format. How I can do that?

You’ll have to convert all the songs that you want to burn into MP3, WMA or WAV format. Audio MP3 WAV WMA Converter (http://www.audio-converter.com/download.htm) is suitable for this purpose. For converting Real Audio files, You can try using the Advanced MP3 WMA Recorder (http://www.mp3-converter.biz/advanced-mp3-wma-recorder/).
After converting the files, please get EZ CD Creator and ensure that you have a CD burner. Select the Audio CD option and then the songs that you would like to burn. It will do the rest.
