DMB-receiving cellphone

LG Electronics unveiled the world’s first terrestrial Digital Multimedia Broadcast (DMB) receiving mobile phone. It adopts the DMB-receiving System-on-Chip (SoC) that the company developed last month which enables the user to watch terrestrial broadcasts, while talking on the phone at the same time.

TUKA-CELLULAR launched a mobile phone in Tokyo with just a keypad and an on-off switch, aimed at attracting older users who find the average cellphone too complicated to use. Japan’s mobile phone operators are now making a clear effort to target the rapidly ageing population that is befuddled by all the high-tech gadgetry associated with cellphones. — Reuters
