This is in reference to Mr Shaukat Ali Bhambhro’s article “Lotus cultivation devastated by army worm in Upper Sindh” (Nov 15 issue), which depicts the state of devastation faced by lotus in Pakistan.
Armyworm, a dreadful pest, can’t be controlled in lotus by using any pesticide which, howsoever safe, will destroy a host of aquatic vertebrates and invertebrates that form a valuable link in the aquatic ecosystem of our fresh water bodies, such as Haleji lake and Ayub National Park. There are places where pests are eliminated by biological control only. Brazil has banned the use of any pesticide on its cotton crop. Consequently it fetches the best rate in the world . The yarn made from pesticide-sprayed cotton breaks more often than the one without the use of any pesticide. As a result now the entire cotton crop of Brazil has no pest whatsoever. Pink bollworms in cotton in Upper Sindh may also be eliminated by biological control.

In terms of games, a comparison of xbox vs PS2 shows the advantage that Sony has for being in the game longer. The recent titles available for PS2, such as Devil May Cry are true second-generation Playstation 2 games and certainly don’t look and play any worse than the new Xbox games.
Comparing system specifications Xbox vs PS2, the clear winner is the Xbox. Ultimately, it all boils down to you. PS2 is the market leader, but Xbox really is a good gaming platform.

You may also use IE’s feature of offline storing. Go into Favorites — Add to Favorites, Make Available Offline and in advanced, select the number of levels you want to go for. Three means three links deep. This will download everything that the website contains.

Editor’s reply: At times an error in the system file cause such problems and they don’t get fixed by just re-installing because the registry entries don’t go away easily. You could also try fresh OS installation on formatted disk that might solve the problem.
It is also possible that the hardware on your system might have some compatibility issues with WMP. If so have your sound card checked by an expert. As an alternative try using Real Jukebox 7.0 or WinAmp 3.0.

Since you haven’t mentioned the operating system you are using, we assume you’re using Windows XP because of that error reporting feature. You can try a couple of solutions for this problem, use a good registry fixing software from www.download.com or have a fresh installation of your operating system.
