Found your Brit career on the slide? Try trash TV in the US, writes Laura Potter

While the UK now counts A-listers Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie and Madonna as residents, the US has become home to a group of truly pointless British stars.

Take Jordan and Peter Andre. Or rather keep them. Please. Their reality TV show Katie and Peter: The Next Chapter is airing stateside.

“The Americans love it,” a modest Jordan assures us. They also seem to love Cat Deeley and, more alarmingly, assume we feel the same way. After presenting US show So You Think You Can Dance, Cat started hosting the useless Brit audience segments on American Idol. We preferred Ryan Seacrest.

Heather Mills also waltzed her way into the US spotlight on Dancing With The Stars. While some in the UK see Lady Mucca as a gold-digger, Stateside they think she’s solid gold and she’s now fielding various TV offers. Maybe she’ll be a role model for Posh. She’s been asked to appear in the next series and is also trying to get a reality show about her move to LA on air.

Manager Simon Fuller claims the Americans love her “hilarious humour”. We must’ve missed that. We don’t, on the other hand, miss Piers Morgan, who’s currently on the America’s Got Talent judging panel. Who would have thought Piers and Denise Van Outen would end up in similar jobs? But she’s currently presenting Grease: You’re the One That I Want! in LA.

Famous for all the wrong reasons? Lots of crap presenting jobs on your CV? Try hopping over the pond – you’ll be all the rage. — Dawn/ Observer Service
