Charles F. Kettering, the inventor of ‘screwdriver and pliers’ once said, “High achievement always takes place in the framework of high expectation.” This famous quotation unveils the secret of achieving success. If we aim high, we will make big plans; we will put in more efforts in our work and try hard. And, of course, high achievement is a natural result of such efforts.
Recently, 69 high achieving students in GCE (General Certificate of Education) examinations 2006 were presented with awards at a ceremony organised by the University of Cambridge International Examinations in collaboration with the British Council in Karachi. The students included record breaking 55 world toppers at O Levels and nine at A Levels. The accomplishments of these brilliant students were the result of their high ambition and meticulous planning.
Group Chief Executive Simon Lebus, who flew here from New Delhi, said the number of top students in O Levels last year had increased from 52 to 55 this year. The number of students who topped in the A Levels also increased from three to nine this year.
Addressing a press conference later, International Examinations head, Ann Puntis said the performance of Pakistani students had been remarkably good compared to other countries.
Thirty three outstanding students from Karachi achieved top marks in the world for individual Cambridge International O’ and A levels exams. Two cash awards of 500 pounds each were presented to Top O Levels student, Faran Abbas and Top A Levels student, Mohammad Khurram Jah.
