To take good care of the skin cleanse, tone and moisturize it regularly, writes Saba Khan
A good foundation is the key to clever make up. Foundation means the base of the make-up, which includes concealer, foundation and powder.
Cleanse, tone and moisturize your skin then apply concealer, foundation and powder to create a smooth base. Apply all colours on your face with the blusher, eye shadows and lipstick.
Understanding the colouring of the skin tone is important.
A light skin tone is when one has an ivory or porcelain complexion.
Rose beige, light olive, or ash brown complexion is considered a light medium tone.
One has a medium dark skin tone if it is a yellow-beige, medium olive or rose brown skin.
Dark skin tone categorizes a dark olive, bronze, rich beige or black complexion.
Choose the right foundation colours according to the skin tone. For light skin tone pink blush foundation is suitable. For light medium skin tone choose rose glaze foundation. For medium dark tone pink beige foundation and for dark skin tone natural foundation is best.
Once the foundation is applied add some colour to complement it. Use a big brush and sweep the blusher across the cheekbones. Try mixing two colours together for a softer look.
Use a highlighter under the eyebrows or above the blusher line, high on the cheekbone for a party look. It can also be used as an eye shadow. To make the eyes look bright and wide awake, apply a little highlighter across the eyelids and add mascara.
For a more colourful look, add a different shade of eye shadow above, under or around the highlighter. To give the final touches add a bit of lipstick.
Choose the right colours for the different make-up accessories.
In case of lipsticks, nude is a good neutral colour (it suits everybody). Whereas good daytime shades include cool mist, frosty rose, fuchsia and strawberry ice. For more colour use burgundy, fire, or raspberry sorbet.
A plum coloured lip liner can be used.
A English rose or winter rose blusher is also handy.
Use bronze powder in place of blusher or all over the face for a healthy glow.
In case of eye shadows try marshmellow or magnolia on the eyelids and on the brow bone as a highlighter. Use shades of prism pink, rose dawn and silver birch. These are neutral shades. For more colour, use ash brown, denim haze, ice blue, plum crazy, purple haze, or steel silver.
Choose from blue, gray or black eyeliner featured on a double-ended pencil. Ash brown, plum crazy, steel silver or denim haze are good as soft liners under the eye.
In case of mascaras, brown and black are probably the best shades while blue will add more colour.
