The RoboCop Trilogy

The 1980s spawned many exciting action adventure heroes — RoboCop is definitely one of them. This three-disc special collects all three motion pictures in one boxed set, amid a myriad of special features. Though not re-mastered, the film still stands out as an enjoyable action packed drama. RoboCop tells the tale of Alex J. Murphy (Peter Weller) who is viciously murdered at the hands of a crime syndicate. Murphy doesn't die however, and thanks to a police special project he is given a new lease on life. Though a robot, he becomes a puppet for the system. Eventually, his sub-consciousness is revived and his memories return and the man conquers the robot.

This is director Paul Verhoeven's first blockbuster movie, and like all his previous films he brings his excessive style to RoboCop as well. The film is a violent portrayal of a distant dystopian future set in an almost utopian city called Delta City.

This DVD pack comes with many special features, behind the scenes and a retrospective documentary on the making of RoboCop, the story, the costume and the movie.Khaver Siddiqi

Daredevil

The night is young and there’s work to be done, says Daredevil (Ben Affleck) when he roams the city at night as the daring superhero. By day he is a blind attorney, Matt Murdock, who lost his sight in a freak accident in his childhood.

Directed by Mark Steven Johnson, the 2003 flick is based on the Marvel Comics character, created by Frank Miller. It also has the beautiful Elektra Natchios (Jennifer Garner), who enters Murdock’s life. But in a twist of fate, she is also the Elektra, another superhero who fights crime at night. The powerful gang-lord Kingpin (Michael Clarke Duncan) is Murdock’s nemesis, as it was he who had a hand in the death of Murdock’s father.

On the second DVD, there are two 60-minute behind-the-scenes documentaries titled Beyond Hell’s Kitchen and The Art of Daredevil, which tell all there is to know about the masked crusader. From Jennifer Garner’s screen test to costume design to Kingpin’s music videos, all are compiled to provide enough material for those who are Daredevil fans. Seema Faruqi
