Striking gold

The recently held Gold Disc ceremony of Zoheb Hassan’s album Kismet turned out to be a sparkling, star-studded affair. Zoheb was celebrating the sale of over 50,000 of his CDs since the release of the album on Chand Raat this Eid.

The venue sported a central backdrop with a huge black and gold portrait of Zoheb while huge projection screens showed a video compilation of his latest songs including Fashion, Kismet, Yeh To Kya Ho Gaya etc.

The evening opened with dedications by Anwar Maqsood, Fatima Surriya Bajiya, Aijazz Aslam, Ali Salman and others who praised Zoheb for his musical talent. The speakers also complimented Zoheb along with the late Nazia Hassan for their pioneering contribution by introducing pop music in the subcontinent, congratulating Zoheb on his return to the music scene.

The album Kismet also comprises the soundtrack of Zoheb’s recent debut serial by the same title along with a few extra bonus tracks.

With the venue buzzing with people from the electronic and print media as well, the evening came to a conclusion with the guests walking away with packs of the new CD. — MFA
