Hot-headed Aussie actor Russell Crowe beat a jail term by promising a judge he won’t get arrested for a year, but that doesn’t mean he’s giving up phone tossing.
The Oscar winner, who was host of Australia’s version of the Academy Awards held recently, took the stage in Melbourne carrying a chunky, old-fashioned, Bakelite telephone. “If there are any problems and you do get up here and go on too long,” Crowe joked to the nominees as he pointed to the phone, “then ‘hello’ to my little friend.”
The 41-year-old New Zealand-born actor pleaded guilty this month in New York to third-degree assault, admitting he threw a phone that hit a hotel concierge in June. —Courtesy NY Daily News
