STARBUZZ

Let the good times roll

Despite popular belief, rock stars are people just like you and me. Well, some of them anyway. Jest aside, there was plenty of joy in the air for none other than Farook Ahmed, lead singer of Aaroh. Farook has finally decided to settle down and recently got hitched in Islamabad (actually, the Nikah took place in the capital, while the happy couple celebrated their Valima in Karachi).

Right now the dude with the golden voice is taking it easy, kicking back and relaxing, getting used to married life, one assumes. Farook will take a month off and then regroup with his Aaroh bandmates to hit the studio, and the band is looking for June as a tentative release date for the much anticipated follow-up to the brilliant Sawal. It’ll be interesting to hear what the Aaroh sound has evolved into considering the rather messy departure of Nabil and Kamran from the band.

Oh well, all the best to Farook and his family, and may the band rock on for many years to come. —QAM

A bundle of joy

There’s an infectious chirpiness in Moazzam Abassi’s voice these days and no, it doesn’t have anything to do with the signing of a lucrative new contract. Rather, the source of his happiness is much closer to his personal life and home as he has become the father of a bouncing baby boy now named Saif Abassi.

The chirpiness in the proud new dad’s step was only too obvious as he went about town shopping for last-minute essential items in order to prepare for the big day and no sooner had Saif arrived than all those on Moazzam’s mailing list got emails and SMS on the new addition to the Abassi clan. Daddy dearest also plans to celebrate the arrival of the bundle of joy with a big affair in his hometown, Hyderabad. —Minha Hasan
