Bringing past to life

History was recently relived at the Lahore Fort, bathed in multi-coloured lights and drenched in music to the tune of different historical eras of Punjab. The dignitaries and officials seated in Hazuri Bagh amidst the beautifully lit Badshahi Mosque and the Fort were treated to an exceptional light and sound show prior to the official launch of the A1 Grand Prix racing car in Pakistan.

Meticulous art direction included costumes selection to represent different facets of the province’s culture and history — Sikhs, Buddhists, Mughals, etc. Elaborate dance sequences represented various cultural occasions while the lighting and visual effects set the mood for each sequence.

The show used several multimedia techniques to bring out historical facts with a large cast of actors. The event was organized by Serendip Productions. —Amna Saadat

A ladies affairs

Pakistan’s first ever lingerie show was recently held and featured almost all the top models of the fashion industry. A ladies-only affair, the venue was cordoned from all sides to ensure that no one other than the invited guests catch a glimpse of the beauties prancing around in the spring-summer collections of the makers of Wonderbra, Playtex, Bali, Barelythere and Hanes Her Way.

Some models left a lot to be desired, looking a tad uncomfortable prancing around in lingerie and not really getting into the groove, while others could have done with some toning down. Iraj took the audience along for the ride by interacting with the front-row crowd. The show was most certainly a celebration of girl power, choreographed by Freiha Altaf and compered by Fifi Haroon. —Saira Hussain

Boyle-ing over?

Who needs a movie when you have Lara Flynn Boyle as your in-flight entertainment? British Airways passengers are said to have been gob-smacked by the Men in Black II actress when she wandered half-dressed around the first class cabin, flashed the passengers, and tried to snuggle up with a male stranger.

“Lara had two whiskey-based hot toddies when she got on board,” London’s Mail quotes a source as saying. Later, the source claimed, she “woke a passenger up, tried to get into bed with him, pulled open the blind and said, ‘We’re landing, get your clothes on’” ... even though the flight was more than four hours away from the UK.

The paper quoted a British Airways spokeswoman as saying: “First-class passengers on board Flight BA 282 from Los Angeles to Heathrow reported to cabin crew that a female passenger in the cabin was behaving strangely. However, the behaviour did not result in any formal complaints being made.” Boyle’s rep told us she couldn’t reach her client in London, adding, “As far as I’m concerned, the story is completely not true.” —Rush and Molloy
