STARBUZZ: Sonia’s beverage campaign

Things are looking up for Sonia Khan after her spate of bad luck, leading to her rather desperate attempts to get back in the spotlight. The grapevine is abuzz with the news that she has been signed on by a major beverage company for their diet product and to be the new face of the low calorie drink. By the time this appears in print, Ms Khan will already be back home after having filmed the shoot in London with designer Nomi Ansari’s cuts.

However, for the regular line of the carbonated beverage, the hunt is still on from among the leading model brigade, leading many to speculate as to who that could be.—F.S.

Untold anger at Nic

Juggling your past and current lovers can be tricky. Just ask Nicolas Cage. The Oscar-winner has always been generous to Kristina Fulton, the mother of his 12-year-old son, Weston. (Word is he gives her about $50,000 a month in support.)

Last month, Cage joined Fulton and Weston for a vacation on the isle of Capri. After their Italian idyll, he treated mother and son to another trip ... their annual getaway in Hawaii. Trouble is, says a source, Cage waited until the day before his July 30 wedding to call and say he and girlfriend Alice Kim were eloping. According to our snitch, Fulton was so irked by the last-minute notice that she and a girlfriend ran up a bill of close to $100,000 at a hot-shot hotel.

“Kristina was aware of our engagement for months,” Cage, now in South Africa shooting Lord of War, told us through his rep. “Everything was amicable.”—Rush and Molloy
