Fading out from the scene after her hit debut with Shazzman, Laela, it was assumed that the Moroccan vocalist, Hayat, went back to her roots. But it was only to return recently with a new solo album featuring tracks in Urdu as well, soon to be launched simultaneously in Pakistan and India.

At a time when Arabic music is really making its mark, Hayat seems to have hit the iron just when it’s red hot, and with the music scene in transition in both the countries, she certainly couldn’t have picked a better time to give music connoisseurs on both sides of the border a taste of her tunes. And as an afterthought, has anyone seen Shazzman recently?
