The black magic

By Haris Naveed

Perhaps the best way to describe the fashionable display of handmade jewellery by a local company is sparkling. It was indeed an experience for most of the high class, high income, handpicked audience present for the show at a local mall. Rocked by pumping music, excellent choreography with leading models sashaying down the ramp sporting teasing looks, high-end style was definitely the order of the evening.

As far as the jewellery collection was concerned, it was indeed a womanly affair. The detailed designer jewellery stood out in its style and craftsmanship with dazzling diamonds and black outfits. Bigger and bolder gems in sharp, striking colours simply roused the appeal of almost all the women present.

The highlight of the show was a display of bridal sets, bracelets, cross necklaces, earrings, gem and stone necklaces and men’s cufflinks and rings. All these were displayed as the captivated audience kept on clapping, while the models strutted down the runway at a brisk pace paired with tall hunks dressed in shiny black tuxedos. Even the catwalk was made-up in a jazzy way. The presence of actor and ace comedian Behroze Subzwari as host was added entertainment, as he chipped in with light humorous remarks about the man of the moment, J. R. Raees, the designer and owner of the jewellery company and mastermind of the show. Hosted by Jewel International, the show ended with artists and guests enjoying a sumptuous meal, thus making it very clear that though diamonds are a girl’s best friend, good food will always top the list of priorities.
