A love-hate story

By Zeejay

When Rubina Ashraf started her TV acting career, one could see where she was headed, and those who have teamed with her know that she has conjoined her talents well by adding the ‘ultimate’ expression in showbiz: direction.

Her new serial Phir yun love hua focusses on the love-hate-love relationship, a story where one gets to see two upper-middle class families land themselves into relationship feuds over the ‘boy meets and likes girl’ situation.

The mother of one family is snooty. But her children, being of a more modern persuasion, revolt against her acts in a low, but visible, key. The other family prefers to resolve issues in a more acceptable manner. One can see all this in the 13-episode serial scheduled to be on air on PTV World from Saturday, February 15 at 8pm.

The plot of the serial appears to be powerful. The characterization, with the mellow mixed with equally sweet and sour situations, has been written by Seema Ghazal, who seems to have created a record for being the fastest scriptwriter.

Creativity and framing, aided by the scenic backdrops and lighting, goes to the credit of cameramen coupled with thoughtful direction by Rubina Ashraf.

The cast includes Vaneeza Ahmed, Adnan Siddiqui, Nadya Hussain, Ejaz Aslam, Badar Khalil, Khalid Ahmed, Zeenat Yasmin and Raju Jamil.

Vinnie has adopted a balance between modelling and acting, and it augurs well to see that she is good in both. Adnan Siddiqui, on the other hand, needs to gear up his personality more as an artist than as a model, and also needs to work on his mono-type delivery of dialogues situation-wise. Khalid Ahmed, of course, turns out best with his peculiar style and mannerism while Raju Jamil has a tailor-made role. Zeenat Yasmin and Badar Khalil need no mention of how they act as almost every serial has either of them today.

A touching theme song of the same name has been sung by Nisha and Akbar and composed by Imran.

The moral of the serial; “Love is an act of endless forgiveness, a tender look which becomes a habit.”
