LIME LIGHT: The business of beauty
The evening was a gala affair with a considerable number of stars in attendance. The reason for the glitterati being there was the launch of a men’s and a ladies salon at Shapes by Musarrat Misbah, the dynamic Depilex lady.
Ayesha Sana initiated the proceedings shortly after a sumptuous Iftar and invited Mussarrat Misbah and her parents, hockey legend Islahuddin and TV compere Khushbakht Shujaat on stage. The opening credits were then shared by the Director Operations, Lahore, Navaid Rashid, who highlighted the various achievements and contributions of the salon and institute in various genres of fashion and entertainment.
Depilex prides in calling itself a family and their clientele include international celebrities such as the former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and the late Lady Diana Spencer (while visiting Pakistan), Jemima Khan, late singing legend Noor Jehan, as well as immortalizing Christopher Lee as Quaid-i-Azam Mohammed Ali Jinnah for the film Jinnah.
The formal ribbon-cutting ceremony having been performed — the women’s salon by Khushbakht Shujaat and the men’s by Islahuddin — the guests were shown around the premises done up in elegant white and boasting of facilities such as separate waxing, facial and massage booths
Mussarrat, for her part, thanked the guests for their participation and invited Khushbakht Shujaat and Islahuddin to speak on the occasion. Both the speakers lavished praise on the latter’s persona, recalling the days when a frail-looking young woman ventured forth to establish what is now a powerful beauty empire.

For the men’s salon, model and groom make-up are the new areas where Depilex plans to make inroads. And while at it, it’s a definite relief to know that their fee won’t burn a hole in the consumer’s pocket.
