Ever thought that there’s more to beauty than makeup and accessories? Apparently not. Make a guess what the latest in the line of beauty is becoming a vogue. Nails of course! Whether manicured or otherwise you can be sure that your nails will make an impression on the other person.
Nail Art is in town but remember this is not for the first time that an institution for the beautification of nails has been set up in Karachi. There are still shops that offer various methods for the revamping of dull nails into absolute gems. But somehow they failed to be noticed as this art was not imparted and shared with sister salons in Pakistan.
A foreign company dealing in acrylic nails nominated Royal Beauty of Lahore and Bhabi’s of Karachi to represent them. They not only wanted them to practice the technique of Nail Art but also wanted these salons to teach the art to various other beauty salons. Nail Art is being formally taught for the first time in Karachi for which Rohana Iqbal has been organizing extensive workshops.
When you enter her domain, you can actually feel the excited vibes of all those experimenting and learning. Both the learners and the models are equally enchanted by the transformation of not so attractive nails to eye-catching ones. They can easily be called boogie nails — funky, colourful with glitter, nail rings and other embellishments — nail decals in the form of stick-ons which can be both inside and outside the nail — simple embellishments with coloured stripes, stars, beads and a whole lot of other designs. The best part is that for all those girls who are always complaining about weak, unsophisticated nails, it’s a dream come true.
A bride-to-be who happened to be at the salon was especially thrilled as her wedding was round the corner. One college student who experimented with just one finger, said she and her friends loved it so much that she was back the very next day to get both her hands ‘nailed.’ The best part is that Nail Art stays on for six months. No harm is done to nails after being washed, as Rohana Iqbal says, “You can wash dishes, do laundry or any other nature of work without harming your nails.” And no after-effects either!
It’s time to straighten out your nails with the help of some acrylic.
