Q I’m suffering from acidity, gas and heartburn for some five years now. Two years back I had an endoscopy that revealed that I have duodenal ulcer. I’m 22 years old and I think the problem started when I took some acidic syrup for urine and kidney problem without even mixing it with water. Kindly help me out, I take medications on and off but it is of no use.

A In 95 per cent cases of confirmed duodenal ulcer, the cause is Helicobacter Pylori infection. Treating the H. Pylori infection effectively is the single most important step in reducing relapse of the ulcer.

Q I am a 22-year old male. I have grown myself a beard; in fact I have never shaved. Recently, I have noticed that a few of my hairs on my beard have started to turn brown in color. What is the reason behind it? I am also experiencing a heavy hair loss especially when I apply shampoo to them my entire hand gets covered with hairs. What is the reason behind hair loss and what could be done to finish or at least minimize it? What role does diet play?

AThe problem you have mentioned might be a familial tendency found in some people who develop brown colourization of their hairs.

As you mentioned that you have excessive hair loss after you shampooed, it would be better to consult a dermatologist to get an advice about the shampoo you are using.

There are multiple reasons for hair loss, including androgenic dependent hair loss which is a common cause of male baldness, inadequate nutrition, chronic illness like typhoid, cold, anemia, use of certain medicine, stress and anxiety.

To minimize your hair loss, you should take nutritional diet as it plays an important role, and the deficiency of vitamins B, iron, copper and iodine can lead to falling of hairs. Thus, a person with the tendency of hair loss is advised to have a well-balanced diet.

Adequate quantity of vegetable seeds, nuts, green leafy vegetables, fresh fruits, milks and eggs should be included in your diet.
