NET-CLIP: Beautiful flowers

By Shermeen H. Moosani

FLOWERS are for every occasion. They are the best gift, sentiment expressed to a person when he or she is sad, happy or simply depressed. Flowers take care of every occasion and even when you don’t need a reason to give them. Their colours and vibrance bring a new life to everything that we do. The house looks livelier, smiles appear and the sad face disappear. And it’s all because of flowers. But these, nature’s irreplaceable gift to mankind, can be enjoyed online as well. All you have to do and surf the Net to find all you can about them. For instance there’s the site, Virtual Flowers and E-cards http://www. iflowers.com/.

This free, fun and easy site is for sending virtual flowers (I think it wouldn’t be a big secret by now). Though not the real thing, but you can very easily, through this site, send your near and dear one, flowers, gifts and roses also, all virtual and all free. Why, I just sent a nice tube rose to my sweetheart, in five easy steps. Why don’t you do the same!

You can use the site to create online e-cards with a floral or postcard image and your personal message! There are cartoon cards as well and a few tips that are sure to help you preserve your roses for a long time.

But if there is some serious flowering that you’re interested in doing then the website of the UK based, Flowers & Plants Association http://www.flowers.org.uk/ is the link for you. The association and the website promotes cut flowers and indoor plants in the UK. There are care tips, pictures, industry information and a list of retailers in the UK. You can also have a look at the latest flower fashion trends for Spring, while you wait for the summer trends to arrive on May 1. Facts, trivia and numerous other pointers dot the site. There are also job openings for florists in the UK. Hmmm, now this is the newsalert our gardeners were waiting for! A very well done site, one that would certainly vie for the best flower web site award.

Coming out of the real flowers, lets suppose that you don’t need them; what if you were in the mood for some of those un-real flowers, like tissue paper flowers, where would you go then? For that you’ll have to turn to the website of Kids Domain, where a whole web page is dedicated to the art of tissue paper flower making. These types of flowers are quick to make and the children, as well as the kid in all of us will enjoy making them. Just click here and amaze your mom. I am quite sure she’ll know then, why the house has suddenly run out of supplies of tissue paper!

Another flower based fun activity that is really a very good and a time killer as well is colouring flowers (of course you can do them only on paper. Flowers Colouring Pages http://www.coloring.ws/flowers.htm no less than forty, black and white prints of flowers that can be downloaded onto your computer (the pictures are in the Gif format) and then printed. For the next step, you better possess a good set of colouring pencils or crayons that will enable you to explore your creative genius to the fullest.

For web buffs, those you who can’t stop exploring the potential of the world wide web to the fullest, the discovery of animations and Gifs is nothing less than a blessing. And it is for these folks that the site Animated Flowers http://www.fg-a.com/flowers.htm exists. Actually this site doesn’t cater only to flowers. There are Gif animations of a whole lot of other stuff as well, including buttons, aliens, animals and even world flags. Coming back to the flowers, if you want to see the Venus Fly-trap, chomp; if you want to see red flowers with yellow butterflies on your site. If you want to see eleven other such animations, then click here on this site. Or, if the stuff here doesn’t satisfy your buds, then click to Free Animated Flowers http://www.wilsoninfo.com/flowers.htm. Lesser flowers here, though, here too you’ll find a lot of variety in animated buttons and the like.

So here we are, on our journey of online flowers, the stuff that makes your heart flutter and saved me a whole lot of blushes when I had to apologize for my mistakes, to my sweetheart. Hope it does the same in your time of need. Happy flowering!
