Micro AV 2009 Removal
Q I installed MICRO AV 2009, which showed some virus reports, but I got to know that it is a malicious programme. I tried to uninstall it, so searched for 'Add and Remove' button but when I could not find it, I deleted it manually. However, it still shows up in the Control Panel. What should I do to completely remove it?

A Okay. It is pretty easy to remove this without installing any programmes. Follow these steps
1. Open command prompt (it is in  Accessories, just search if you cannot find it)
2. Type this exactly as shown net user ad ministrator/activeyes
3. Then press Enter.
4. Restart computer.
5. There should be a new user at the user menu, it should be called Administrator. Go into the new user.
6. Once in, go to Programme Files, scroll down to Micro AV.
7. Right click the folder and click Delete.
8. Now empty it from the recycle bin.

The reason you have to do all this is that because the computer does not let you have full control and you have to be a full administrator to delete the programme files, and you can only do that by typing that code in the CMD.

Micro AV should now stop popping up, but your computer will still have spyware on it. To remove that, go to this address and download Spybot S&D. www.SpySearchDestroy.com.

Now update it and do a scan. Delete anything it picks up.

Then, go to http//free.grisoft.com and download AVG antivirus. Run a complete system scan after an update. Now, you should be free of viruses.

Download Comodo firewall to prevent your system from other viruses http//www.comodo.com.

Also, just in case you have been hit with the newest version which is harder to delete, after the above mentioned points, browse the Automated Removal Instructions for Micro Antivirus 2009 at http//www.bleepingcomputer.com/malware-removal/remove-micro-antivirus-2009 and use the Malwarebytes' anti-malware http//download.bleepingcomputer.com/malwarebytes/mbam-setup.exe programme to remove the software. It is free to use.

Functionality Of Microprocessor

Q Please tell me something about functionality of microprocessor?

A The computer you are using to read this page uses a microprocessor to do its work. The microprocessor is the heart of any normal computer, whether it is a desktop machine, a server or a laptop. The first microprocessor was the Intel 4004, introduced in 1971. The 4004 was not very powerful - all it could do was add and subtract, and it could only do that 4bits at a time.

But it was amazing to see everything was on one chip. Prior to the 4004, engineers built computers either from collections of chips or from discrete components (transistors wired one at a time). The 4004 powered one of the first portable electronic calculators. I would suggest that you should read up on Microprocessors from http//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microprocessor and http//www.howstuffworks.com/microprocessor.htm. That will give you everything you could ever possibly want to know about CPUs and how they work.

Malware Detected

Q A few days back, my Prevx CSI detected a file name WINEXY32.DLL as a cloaked malware. However, AVG antivirus did not detect it as a malware. I am using WinXP SP2. If I try deleting this file by going to its location that is, “CWindowssystem32” it says, “Access is denied. Make sure that the disk is not full or right-protected and that the file is not currently in use.” I tried to do it in the safe mode too but to no avail. How can I remove it?

A WINEXY32.DLL is a Trojan.Agent.qt. For this, you can use VundoFix. VundoFix is a freeware removal tool for many of the known variants of Trojan.Vundo, Trojan.Conhook and other similar infections.

“Download VundoFix” to your desktop from http//www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=4.

Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it. When VundoFix opens, click the Scan for Vundo button. Once it has done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button. You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES. As soon as it starts removing Vundo, your desktop will go blank. When it is completed, it will prompt to reboot your computer, click OK.

Merging Issues

Q I have WorldCall broadband internet, as there is one USB and one RJ-45 option in the broadband modem, I want to know is there any way to merge both USB and Ethernet to double the speed. I have bridged both connections but it does not work.

A The speed of your connection is determined by the server on the provider's premises, not by how many connections you use to connect to it. The speed on your username (phone line) is pre-determined. So it really does not matter how you connect to it, since you will get what you pay for. To increase speeds on your line, however, you can try this simple hack.

Because TCP/IP is packet-based, each time a packet is sent, it must be acknowledged via an acknowledgment packet. This slows down the system. To keep the sender from having to wait for every packet to be acknowledged before sending another one, you can increase the window size (TcpWindowSize) value on the receiver end.

Then, the sender can send packets until that value is reached before the receiver needs to send an acknowledgment. To tweak the TCP/IP parameters to increase the window size, you need to manually update the registry

1. Start regedit.exe.
2. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesTcpipParameters.
3. From the Edit menu, select New, DWORD value.
4. Enter a name of TcpWindowSize, and press Enter.
5. Double-click the new value, change the Base value to decimal, and enter a value of 32767. Click OK.
6. Close regedit.
7. Reboot the machine.

In step 5, you can actually specify a higher value (up to 256000). However, on slow networks, this larger window size means more data needs to be retransmitted.

Also, switch to Mozilla 3.0 and download the 'Tweak Network' add-on from la.org/en-US/firefox/addon/327. Set it to POWER. This has been known to increase speeds drastically in some cases. You can also take a look TCP Optimiser at http//www.speedguide.net/downloads.php. This is a free, easy Windows programme that provides an intuitive interface for tuning and optimising your internet connection.

HANGING ON

Q I am using IBM ThinkCentre M52 8212-ISU. It has only one IDE, and am using dual cable for the hard disk and CD Rom because they both are on IDE. The problem is that when I try copying something from CD Rom or install something to it, the system gets very slow, mostly, the songs that I listen hangs all the time.

What is the problem? If the problem lies with the dual IDE cable, then should I buy DVD-RW SATA or hard disk on SATA? I have heard that the hard disk on SATA is not reliable.

A I do not believe that the IDE cable should be the problem. I think it is the OS that you are installing and causing these problems. Your default OS is XP and I think the system is optimised for that. Installing anything else will cause problems.

Secondly, SATA is now the default next generation drive interface. Serial ATA has distinct key advantages over its predecessor. Cables are very thin with small seven-pin connectors. They can be up to three feet (one metre) in length, and are easily routed to stay out of the way allowing maximum airflow inside the case.

SATA also has a far lower power requirement of just 250mV compared to PATA's 5-volt requirement, and with chip core voltages declining, this speaks well of SATA's future. Serial ATA does away with Master/Slave configurations and drive jumpers. Setup is greatly simplified, and the technology even allows hot-swapping, meaning drives can be removed or added while the computer is running. So far it has been proven to be very reliable in everyway. Use renowned brand like Seagate or Western Digital when buying one.
