QUETTA, March 2: Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali has said that country’s first liver transplant facility would soon be provided in Karachi and it would be free of cost.
He announced this while speaking at the 17th Annual National Congress of Cardiology in the provincial metropolis on Saturday. “I am glad to announce that we are setting up country’s first liver transplant facility in Karachi, where the patients would get treatment free of cost,” Mr Jamali told said.
The premier said that Pakistan desperately needed the facility.
On the occasion Mr Jamali gave a slogan to the nation “each one teach one”, and requested the educated people of the country to implement it as it would contribute a lot towards reforming the society and raise the literacy rate. Moreover, professionals would be produced in bulk, he added.
The prime minister claimed that one of the reasons of the cardiac ailments was tension. “Today in Pakistan there is tension of poverty, jobs, security, safety, and health. Our job as a government will be to relieve the nation of such ailments.”
He also appealed that all Pakistanis should at least render five minutes for the national cause and work for the country. “This will give the country a large number of working hours,” he added.
Mr Jamali said that the government needed the help of the people to rid the country of various problems. “Our performance may be criticized but at the same time suggestions be also provided so that we can bring about improvements,” the premier added.
He assured the Pakistan Cardiac Society that the government would extend all out support to it in meeting their requirements.
Speaking on the occasion, Federal Health Minister Mohammed Nasir Khan said that the prime minister had told him to attain maximum results within minimum time, keeping public interest supreme while framing policies.
Convener of the congress, Prof Abdul Munaf, presented the welcome address and the president of Pakistan Cardiac Society, Prof Sharyar A. Shaikh, presented the keynote address.
PM PROMISE: Balochistan Governor Abdul Qadir, Chief Minister Jam Mohammed Yousuf and Chief Secretary Ashraf Nasir called on Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali here on Sunday.
They discussed matters relating to law and order with him.
Later, before leaving for Lahore, talking to electronic media, the prime minister said the government was making all possible efforts to solve problems of the masses on priority.
The prime minister promised that he would visit Balochistan every month to ensure speedy development of the province.
Replying to a question, he said his government would formulate people-friendly policies.
