Pakistani prisoner Sanaullah, an inmate of India’s central Jammu jail, is shifted to the intensive care unit at a hospital in Jammu on May 3, 2013, after being attacked by Indian inmates at the prison.

NEW DELHI: Sanaullah Haq, the Pakistani prisoner who was attacked in an India prison in Jammu last week, is brain dead doctors of the PGI Chandigarh said on Sunday, DawnNews reported.

Moreover the Pakistani High Commissioner was allowed to visit the Haq in Chandigarh, according to Indian media channels.

Doctors at PGI Chandigarh issued the latest report over the condition of Sanaullah Haq according to which the attacked prisoner was in a brain-dead state.

The report was reportedly signed by DR SN Mathu Raya and other doctors of the team tending to the Pakistani prisoner.

Sanaullah Haq, who was convicted of involvement in separatist activities in the disputed area of Kashmir, was attacked in an Indian prison by a court-martialled Indian soldier in retaliation to a similar incident in a Pakistani prison where some prisoners attacked Sarabjit Singh, who was a deathrow prisoner in Pakistan convicted for terrorism charges related to bombing in Faisalabad that had killed 14 people.

Sarabjit later died at a hospital in Lahore.

Jail brawls are common in the world and sad incident of Sarbjit Singh is the result of the same. But planed attack on Sanaullah in Jammu jail exposes the horrible prejudiced face of so-called democratic India.

Indians and the world boasts that India is the largest democracy in the world but the "TIT FOR TAT" approach that has been displayed on this prisoner beating incidents has tarnished this image and have shown the world their narrowmindness as a nation. it

This is a murder by Indian government. An obvious retaliation to death of Sarabjit and no way act of an individual. In fact its not one they organized killing of other muslims by creating riot in Tihar jail too. These Indians are animals and should be treated like that...

you did not mentioned that victim is a pakistani citizen, what was he doing in India, you should write unbiased reports. He (Sanaullah) is not a freedom fighter from Kashmir but a deadly terrorist involved in killing poeple

@Ihtesham Kayani: Sarabjit's death was also planned by jail authorities.

May 05, 2013 09:53pm

@Ihtesham Kayani: Sir, It was NOT just a simple brawl which resulted sarabjit death. It was indeed planned attack which is clearly evident from his autopsy report. You (Pakistan) need to take blame for escalation of hatred across the border which leads to very unfortunate attack on Sanaullah. Though, Violence can't be justified and I wish this hatred ends soon and we start behaving like more mature & civilized nation.

@Riz: how do you like when some one in the western world or from any other place on this planet stereotype all muslims as terrorists, which is for sure absurd in my view?

You cannot resolve problems by carrying this attitude in life... Please be more rational in life if you want your country to grow.

You should be in sense when doing some heinous crime. It was started by Pakistan. If they cannot protect one prison in jail that too other nationalist then they will see such incidents for their prisoners in other country jails.

@mannu: Why you applying double standards, if we apply your logic then what Sarabjit Singh was doing in Pakistan. He was also a convicted CRIMINAL who killed 14 Pakistanis in terrorist attack but India gives him state funeral with 21 gun salute and prominent political figures like Rahul Gandhi paid him tribute. Now the same thing happen to incarcerated Pakistani so you suddenly remembered his purpose and crime. Shame on your double standards.

  1. Sarabjit and this pakistani prisoner had nothing in common. Srabjit was accused and he never accepted the killings. As a matter of fact he was never given an opportunity to defend himself.
  2. Srabjits death was a planned murder. He was murdered was a cowardly act and so is the pakistani prisioners attack. Sarabjits death was instigated coz of afzal gurus death penalty.
  3. If pakistan approves of such coward act and tries to defend it, we indians have ol the right to flex our muscles amd show u our might. Whenever we did that pakistan starts whining about morality but they never utter a word when they do it.
  4. India is a democratic nation . Pls look at the population of the muslims christians and sikhs here in india is rising on contrary to pakistan where hindu population has dropped siginficantly from 29% to less than 1%. can any pakistani explain this ?

india and pakistan, hate ( and love) each other, india at its creation tried to highlight its common ties with different religions, whereas pakistan was created based on "precieved differences" between the two religions. why we hate each other is because lakhs were killed, and crores, forced to leave their homes. why we love each other is, because we are basically the same people, same food, same language, same history, same culture. Damn it, lets get over our it now, its been 66 years now. !!

If one don't see this coming one must be very dumb. An Indian spy was killed in Pakistani prison after being attacked by two fellow inmates. The poor Pakistani prisoner in the Indian jail has to pay for what his fellow Pakistanis did to the Indian prisoner in Pakistan. Islam teaches us to be nice with the prisoners rather than kill them.

Zaffar
May 06, 2013 06:47am

@Suraj: Very true. a reasonable person will ask how did a prisoner find out about SS incident in jail? These are games played by both sides in which people are used as chess pieces. of course they have to get their information from somewhere.

@Jayant: 1.Sarabjit and this pakistani prisoner had nothing in common. Ans: The common thing is that both were human who didn't get the real justice 2.Srabjits death was a planned murder. He was murdered was a cowardly act and so is the pakistani prisioners attack. Sarabjits death was instigated coz of afzal gurus death penalty. Ans : You have given answer yourself about the planned murder but the last part is your own perception. 3.If pakistan approves of such coward act and tries to defend it, we indians have ol the right to flex our muscles amd show u our might. Whenever we did that pakistan starts whining about morality but they never utter a word when they do it. Ans: Again you are showing unnecessary aggression just due to the bad act of few people against the whole country. 4.India is a democratic nation . Pls look at the population of the muslims christians and sikhs here in india is rising on contrary to pakistan where hindu population has dropped siginficantly from 29% to less than 1%. can any pakistani explain this ? Ans: Both nations have to work hard for defeating poverty/ lawlessness/ immoralities/ illeteracy/ injustice. both India-Pakistan are not upto that mark. Please, try to understand brother that the enimity will not give us any thing but a frustration which is already enough to deviate us from the core issues. Peace.
