PESHAWAR, May 4: Keeping in view the prevailing law and order situation, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to deploy army troops for augmenting security during general elections on May 11.
According to details, the army would be deployed in all the districts as a quick response force so as to avert any untoward situation.
According to a statement issued by the Home and Tribal Affairs Department here on Saturday, necessary funds for the purpose had been released, which would be placed at the disposal of the provincial police officer for further disbursement among the district police officers.
Transport shall be arranged by the district police. However, the number and kinds of vehicles shall be counter-verified by the deputy commissioners concerned so as to streamline the mechanism.
Also, owning to the existing situation the provincial government has decided to instruct all the non-governmental organisations, INGOs, and the UN and other humanitarian organisations working in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to restrict their movements to the minimum till May 13, 2013.
In this connection, the home and tribal affairs department has asked the director general, provincial disaster management authority/provincial reconstruction/rehabilitation and settlement authority (PDMA/PaRRSA), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa that necessary instructions should be issued immediately to all the NGOs, INGOs/UN and humanitarian organisations for compliance. — Bureau Report
