YOUTH Skills Awards were one of the few good initiatives taken by the past Sindh government. They were to be held on Feb 20 under the ministry of youth affairs in collaboration with the capacity builder foundation.
But political instability in the last days of the government, as well as the poor security situation in Karachi, resulted in their postponement. The winners, the author being one of them, were informed of the postponement a day before the event.
However, now it has been learnt that the whole project has been scrapped. This leads one to question that since the event was postponed only a day before the event, the fund allocation for the awards would have been done already and now. on its cancellation, where these funds have been reallocated.
This gross injustice is tantamount to depriving the deserving youths who have excelled in their respective fields. I would like to request the caretaker Sindh chief minister and the Sindh governor, whose party was behind this whole youth initiative, to take notice of this grave injustice to the winners of the Youth Skills Awards.
The winners should be given their due award and justice should be done.
