LAHORE, April 3: A two-day exhibition (Sarsabz Pakistan) and one-day conference – Agriculture Competitiveness through Value Addition – by the Dawn Media Group will start here on Thursday (today) morning at the Expo Centre, Johar Town.

To be inaugurated by Governor Makhdoom Ahmad Mahmood, both events will also be attended by a number of domestic and foreign dignitaries, representatives of Department of Agriculture (USDA), Australian agriculture experts, industry leaders and other experts on the sector.

The exhibition, which will remain open from 11am to 7pm on both days, will bring together key domestic and international players and showcase new technologies by the Australian, American and national companies in the field of fertiliser, agriculture implements, dairy development, seeds and poultry.

The American Soybean Association, United Nation’s Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC), the University of Agriculture Faisalabad, farmers’ bodies and different departments of the Punjab government will put up their stalls at the exhibition.

Apart from inaugural session at 10am, the conference will cover wide range of topics pertaining to dairy, poultry, livestock and horticulture. Its four sessions will include: Agriculture Governance; Inputs – building foundation of sustainable agriculture; Horticulture – the potential for export and greater role of livestock.

Intelligentsia, academia, industry leaders, representatives of the international organisations dealing with agriculture and food issues and policy-makers will speak on these topics.
