I ENDORSE the views expressed by Syed Abu Riaz in his letter (March 16) on the EOBI pension scale.

I too receive a sum of Rs3,600 a month as pension from the EOBI. I agree with his concern on the meagre pension amount being paid to senior citizens. This amount is too small as compared to the high cost of living and inflation in the country. Senior citizens, on account of their age factor, are vulnerable to a number of diseases. Hence, they need a reasonable amount every month to meet their medical expenses, etc.

The government, as well as the EOBI management, may kindly double the EOBI pension amount to Rs7,200 a month effective Jan 1.
