PESHAWAR: Pakistani Taliban has set up a special death squad to target former Pakistani president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf upon his arrival, who is expected to land in Karachi on March 24, says a militant video released on Saturday.

The outlawed Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has also called upon the Baloch insurgents to join hands with the militant outfit to wage a joint-war for implementing Shariah laws in the country.

In about a six-minute long video received by Dawn.Com, the TTP has threatened to use suicide bombers, snipers and combat teams to kill Musharraf.

Separately, speaking to Dawn.Com earlier, TTP spokesman Ehsanullah Ehsan had said the group had set up squads of suicide bombers to assassinate the former president.

“Suicide bombers are being trained and assigned to assassinate” the former president, Ehsan said.

Moreover, Adnan Rasheed, who took part in a previous attempt to assassinate Musharraf, has been given the charge of these suicide squads.

Rasheed is a former junior technician of Pakistan Air Force who was on death row after getting convicted by a field general court martial for engineering an attack on Musharraf in December 2003. He was among the prisoners who had escaped during the April 15, 2012 Bannu jail break.

“Pervez Musharraf, you can see this death squad around me. We warn you to surrender yourself to us otherwise we would hit you from where you would never imagine you can be hit,” says Adnan Rashid appearing in the video wearing military uniform with his hooded fighters carrying assault rifles.

The video also shows the newly-formed death squad fighters, being taught military drills by Rashid.

Accusing Musharraf of pushing the tribal areas and Balochistan into bloodshed in the name of war on terror and killing innocent students in Jamia Hafza (Lal Masjid), Ehsan in his video message says, “Musharraf is again coming to Pakistan to deceive people, but we would be greeting him with our death squad and he would be eliminated.”

“We are ready to take on the biggest dictator and killer of humanity (Musharraf) and we assure the affectees of Jamia Hafsa, the families of those killed in the tribal areas and Balochistan on Musharraf’s behest that they would get justice,” Ehsan remarked, adding “Musharraf is also responsible for the killing and handing over of hundreds of Arab Mujahideen and Dr Aafia Siddiqui to the Americans just for dollars.”

“My Baloch brothers, the TTP would avenge the ongoing atrocities against you but we request you to join hands with the Taliban for the implementation of true Shariah as your forefathers had done in the past,” he said adding, “we request you to get up for the implementation of true Shariah in the  country.”

Adnan Rashid wearing a brown Waziristani cap appearing in the video further said, “Our death squad for Musharraf include, suicide bombers, snipers and assault and close combat team and they are properly trained to accomplish their mission.”

Musharraf angered the Taliban and other groups by joining the US war on terror following the September 11 attacks and later launching a major crackdown on militancy in Pakistan.

Musharraf is due to return to Pakistan on Sunday from Dubai, after nearly four years of self-imposed exile, in time to take part in parliamentary elections on May 11.

Is this a joke ? The government and country should have enough respect and dignity to provide safety measures for its ex president, no matter how wrong or right he may have been during his tenure. To state something along the lines of what the taliban claim means that there is no law and order and that they can simply walk up with their suicide bombers and snipers are send Gen. Musharraf to hell. Who gives them to right to send anyone to heaven or hell? This is not the teachings of Islam by any means. These radicals need to be brainwashed and provided with good decent education. PTI - how do you plan on tackling extreme talibanisation and a mind set of the kind portrayed above ?

And politicans in Pakistan are holding talks with such people? No wonder the country has reached this state. This is the only country in the world where formal talks are being suggested to deal with people who kill and blow others. Only country where parties go in election alliance with sectarian extremists. Only country where one can put head money on someone and not asked by authorities. Only country where keeping weapons in mosques is fine but taking action against such people is wrong. Only country where sepratist leaders can blow things up but when someone takes action they become hero. Only country where christian homes get burned on one un-verified incident but similar mob violence is not seen when a terrorist blows a mosque and disrespects religious scripture let alone killing people. Only country where we say killing a certain sect will send us to heaven. Shame on us. The problem is the people of Pakistan. Instead of rejecting politicians who deal with terrorists we are so afraid and weak that we give into them. That is not the solution. A criminal is a criminal and should be dealt. There is no mercy, no talks needed. today its Musharraf tomorrow it will be Nawaz. I hope a drone attack takes care of Ehsan and other TTP members.

Why media act as a tool of Terrorists & propagate TTP's intentions? Why publish such threats? Musharraf was a Dictator and is seems he is ready to face courts in Pakistan and will be punished if proven guilty, by the way who gave these terrorists right to execute people him & who gave them title of "Pakistani" Taliban to these crooks? they are group of bandits who terrorize public, kidnap, slaughter and execute unarmed people, something which is strictly banned in Islam. What do they call Islam? Everything that they do and deem right? Did they ever study the teachings of Islam? These beasts don't even know the meaning of the word Islam - it means PEACE! There video and statements totally contradicts with the meaning of Islam. All their actions so far have been against the teachings of the prophet Muhammad (SAW) and they yet claim themselves to be Muslims. They are simply the obeyers of their anti-Islam and anti-Pakistan masters. Islam never permits any individual to act upon his own to sentence any one without a free and fair trial - for which Pakistan has a judicial system. The so called Taliban which were trained and funded by the US are now being used by her to weaken this nuclear Muslim nation. If at all anyone is at fault it the terrorists - the Taliban, Allah is their to punish the wrong doers so no one should take law in their hands. Prophet (SAW) has many a times demonstrated the true spirit of Islam by forgiving his enemies and opressors which resulted in converting them to Muslims by their own free will.. Taliban have been only disgust for Islam and the Muslims world over. Musharraf is a human too and has committed mistakes. Unlike the other leaders and politicians, he has admitted them. He had no political knowledge and this weakness was fully exploited by the people who left him since he lost power. May Allah protect Pakistan, its people, its well-wishers, wealth and assets from the prying eyes of its ill-wishers.

Being an indian, I disike this Kargil Architect. This general achieved nothing in that war and is reponsible for the deaths of poor soldiers on both sides.. But when he became president and started ruling, he understood the value of life. He might have realised it even better when he was attacked and carried a death warrant on his head. There was a transfomation from general to president and president to politician and finally reached the masses . Though Indians may not like him but for pakistan he may be the best bet because of his outspoken and disciplined background.

Shameful!! 13 years ago when I left pakistan for college as a 19 year old, our community would have national flags in our dorm rooms and roamed around campus with our heads held high. Today, there is no where to hide. Everyone knows the truth. We have dug our own grave. Never heard or seen such low levels of patriotism for any country. Everyone is striving to achieve personal objectives. Feel sorry for the country where we spent most good years of our lives. If anyone truly loved pakistan, there would be harmony and peace. Disagreements are common everywhere. But they are not usually settled by blood. Blood has always been the last resort. Unfortunately, we have reached that point :(

Adnan Rashid or whoever the spokes person is - Does Islam teach to do more bloodshed? Does Islam teach to create anarchy among muslims? Does Islam teach to dishearten a nation? Does Islam teach to inject hatred? Does Islam teach to divide a nation? It is VERY tough to evolve into a civilized society. QURAN is a BOOK of LIGHT and HOPE, meant to provide a pathway to evolve into a civilized society. Evolution takes decades of efforts, discipline and patience. Study closely the life of most beloved Muhammad (PBUH), who despite several acts of hatred and violence against him, responded with patience and character. Bangladeshis are proud of their language, culture and identify themselves with Bengali stalwarts like Rabindranath Tagore etc. Pakistanis have a language called "Urdu" imposed on them, which is not the native language of any of the present Pakistan provinces. This language was mostly used by the traders in the region and predominantly used in the plains of UP & Bihar. So a country on which an alien language and culture imposed is bound to be a disaster
