THIS is apropos of the letter ‘The sit-in culture’ by Dr Y. Bhatti (March 11). I fully agree with the writer for the inconvenience that such sit-ins cause to the peace-loving citizens.

However, I would like to add here that it is not just the sit-ins by the people for pressing their demands, but also the rallies passing through the main roads of the cities on various occasions, including those on religious grounds, that cause so much of inconvenience to the citizens.

I wonder why roads should be blocked for fulfillment of religious obligations, causing inconvenience to fellow citizens.

The basic reason why citizens opt for the sit-ins is that they do so as a last resort when they exhaust all peaceful efforts on pressing their just demands.

In developed countries a mere show of discontent through wearing of black armbands as a sign of protest makes governments act.
