MULTAN: Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Thursday urged the Election Commission to take notice of pre-poll rigging by some quarters in the country.

Addressing a press conference in Multan, he said over 4,000 new inductions were made in the National Bank of Pakistan from February 16 without observing the required criteria.

Qureshi said he had joined the PTI to bring about a radical change in the country.

He said the ECP had a primary responsibility to conduct free and fair elections according to the constitution.

“The PTI will not take help from any hidden forces, rather it believes in the will of the masses”, he said.

He laid responsibility upon the government to announce a neutral caretaker set-up at the earliest possible time for the electoral process.

Acknowledging achievements of the incumbent government, he said that for the first time better democratic values had been introduced in the country.

“Parliament has completed its five-year tenure, that clearly shows political maturity of different parties and politicians,” he added.

He also condemned the Joseph Colony incident and demanded stern action against the accused.
