When many astronauts go to space, they see the insignificant size of the earth and vastness of space, and they become very religious, because they have seen the Signs of Allah. — Cat Stevens When many astronauts go to space, they see the insignificant size of the earth and vastness of space, and they become very religious, because they have seen the Signs of Allah. Asteroids are the leftover building blocks of rocky planets like Earth. We can’t directly see other terrestrial planets, but now we can study their dusty fossils. — Charles Beichman
“Of course there are worlds. Millions of them! Every star you see has worlds, and most of those you don’t see.” — Isaac Asim
“When people stargazing, they stare at stars, and many other things which they've already presumed commonly and universally as stars.” — Toba Beta,
“Stars, everywhere. So many stars that I could not for the life me understand how the sky could contain them all yet be so black.” — Peter Watts
Although the probability of a big impact is very small, for the first time in human history we have the means of avoiding such a catastrophic event. But it is essential that we improve our knowledge of asteroids. We must know in detail the internal structure of asteroids, and how they respond to impacts before we can design effective mitigation methods. — Jose Gonzalez
Because this belt has more asteroids than ours, collisions are larger and more frequent, which is why Spitzer could detect the belt. Our present-day Solar System is a quieter place, with impacts of the scale that killed the dinosaurs occurring only every 100 million years or so. — George Rieke
