WHILE attending a recent workshop on job hunting and entrepreneurship, one concept that was reinforced in my mind was to let go of ego. One panelist said: “When the janitor doesn’t turn up, I use the broom to clean the office myself.” Lots of panelists were also of the opinion that it is better to work at a restaurant, for example, as a waiter, instead of sitting idle at home.
In our status-conscious society, people are ashamed of doing odd jobs, whereas when they go to some foreign country it is common practice for them to engage in such work. This mentality needs to be changed.
