QUETTA: A complete shutter down strike was being observed across Balochistan on Friday against the governor rule imposed in the province, DawnNews reported.
The strike was being observed on the call of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI) and Balochistan National Party - Awami (BNP-A).
In different parts of the provincial capital, Quetta, attackers had smashed the windows of several cars and had set fire to a motorcycle. All commercial activity in the city remained suspended during the strike.
Due to the strife caused by the protesters on Quetta’s Sariab Road, transport in and out of the city remained suspended.
Authorities have increased the frequency of patrolling by the police and FC personnel deployed in the city as a part of strict security arrangements.
Hub, an industrial city in the province, also experienced a complete strike, as all commercial centres remained closed there on Friday.
Attendance in educational institutions and offices was poor and transport remained scarce on the roads due to the strike.
The strike was also being observed in the province’s Dera Murad Jamali district where protesters burnt tyres and staged a sit-in.
