LAHORE, Jan 24: The Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd (SNGPL) decided on Thursday to disconnect gas supply to defaulter government departments of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces.

According to company officials, they have already served notices on defaulters including, Children’s Hospital, Jinnah Hospital, Mental Hospital, Lady Aitchison Hospital of Lahore, educational institutions, police and jails departments.

Government offices in Punjab owe Rs279 million to the company, out of which defaulters in Lahore region are to pay Rs93 million, Gujranwala region Rs7.6 million, Faisalabad region Rs6.7 million, Multan region Rs1.1 million, Bahawalpur region Rs5.7 million, Gujrat region Rs3.1 million, Sheikhupura region Rs6.3 million, Sahiwal region Rs4.8 million, Sargodha region Rs2.5 million and Rawalpindi region Rs6.5 million.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the police, jail and hospital owe Rs9.3 million.
