Superstar Shah Rukh Khan bares it all on what it means to be a Muslim in the Post-9/11 world and how he became an "inadvertent object of political leaders" in first person account for a magazine, published in association with an international newspaper. He also features on the cover of the publication.

According to a report published in TOI: Titled " Being a Khan", the write-up appears in the current issue of the magazine and the 47-year-old actor, one of the few Indian actors with international recognition, writes: "I sometimes become the inadvertent object of political leaders who choose to make me a symbol of all that they think is wrong and unpatriotic about Muslims in India."

"There have been occasions when I have been accused of bearing allegiance to our neighbouring nation rather than my own country - this even though I am an Indian, whose father fought for the freedom of India. Rallies have been held where leaders have exhorted me to leave and return what they refer to my original homeland," added the superstar of Hindi cinema.

SRK is married to Gauri, a Hindu, and has two children - Aryan and Suhana.

"I gave my son and daughter names that could pass for generic (pan-India and pan-religious) ones - Aryan and Suhana. The Khan has been bequeathed by me so they can't really escape it."

"I pronounce it with my epiglottis when asked by Muslims and throw the Aryan as evidence of their race when non-Muslims enquire. I imagine this will prevent my offspring from receiving unwarranted eviction orders or random fatwas in the future," he wrote.

He said he became so sick of being mistaken for some crazed terrorist, "who co-incidentally carries the same name as mine that I made a film subtly titled 'My Name Is Khan' (and I am not a terrorist) to prove a point."

Set in the post 9/11 US, " My Name Is Khan" focuses on religious and national identities through Rizwan (SRK), who has Asperger's Syndrome, and how his Khan identity becomes all important in a suspicious America.

"Ironically, I was interrogated at the airport for hours about my last name when I was going to promote the film in America for the first time," said SRK.

simple question, why the same questions are not asked for Salman KHAN or Amir KHAN, ? see the difference. SRK sucks.
Imraan Mehmood Jan 23, 2013 10:10am

DUBAAKORU Jan 23, 2013 07:57am
The problem with him is that he speaks a lot and does less. SELF BOASTING minded. None in the bollywood see him as a super star.
SRK Jan 23, 2013 10:38am
Yet another stunt by the show piece to be in the show always. Take it to somewhere else man....out millions of Muslims in India, he is the only subject, take a break..... Simple word 'Publicity stunts' in hope of being always in
hamid Shafiq Jan 23, 2013 10:26am
i think his major fault in life is religion because he is Muslim by birth but also an indian. but after indian foreign minister salman khurshid agian belong to a Muslim minority announced RSS involves in attacks on trains and blast at shrines. shah rukh khan is great indian but present condition are dangerous for shah rukh from international hatred against Muslims and also in his own country.
Aslam Jan 23, 2013 09:00am
Why do muslims want sharia law when in majority in a country, and demand secularism when in minority?
Singh Jan 23, 2013 09:44am
Dilip Kumar did that and I don't even remember his original name.
SJ Jan 23, 2013 08:44am
Why does he not change his name too? That will put all parties to ease and his desire to be part of the other culture will be realized in this world. I request him to think about the everlasting life though that will follow eventually after this SHORT abode in this temporary world. Please do not be sold out by the glamour of this world, Mr. SRK.
Real Pakistani Jan 23, 2013 11:10am
It was not Foreign Minister Salam Khursheed, who spoke about RSS, it was Mr. Shindey, Interior Minister.
Iftikhar Husain Jan 23, 2013 12:05pm
It is a great shame that one has to defend his loyalty because of his name.
Mohammad Jan 23, 2013 12:13pm
I agree 100% on that. He is just trying to cash in some more attention; this time by using his last name. What a cheap shot man seriously......
Mohammad Jan 23, 2013 12:16pm
WHATTTTTT?? are you serious ??? some of us really are just a bit too naive,he is just playing with ya'll for some lose publicity. Keep your prayers for someone who deserves more than him, ideally for yourself.
hamid Shafiq Jan 23, 2013 12:37pm
you are not real pakistani. salman khurshid support shindey remarks check his press conference
HNY2013 Jan 23, 2013 12:39pm

True Indian Jan 23, 2013 12:44pm

Saleem Jan 23, 2013 01:02pm
Not true, they were labeld the same. But SRK is on the top so getting more attention.
Missy Jan 23, 2013 01:22pm
Well done Mr. Khan, just when rival Salman Khan is getting all the accolades and giving one hit after the other, you decide to give this juicy and controversial interview to stay in the news. How desperate can you get? You know you really don't need to do this. People in India know your allegiance to India and your love for your country. Ups and downs are a part of stardom. Learn to live with it.
sal Jan 23, 2013 02:14pm
Atleast we have too many khans in our cricket team.
Ravi Jan 24, 2013 07:59am

sal Jan 23, 2013 02:16pm
I belive muslims want sharia law even if they are in minority.
DarKnight Jan 23, 2013 02:42pm
Exactly like Pakistan has become a dangerous countries for Muslims as well.
Ather Jan 24, 2013 07:49am
Muslims are third rate citizens in India. That's a well known fact. They have to 'prove' their loyalty all the time!
Richard W Jan 23, 2013 03:18pm
People of the far away Madras province voted 100% for Muslim League(whose theme was dividing India on religious basis).....they were simply exercising their choice....however, they didn't leave for Pakistan after Partition. Thus, it is only natural that non-muslim Indians would question the loyalty of Indian Muslims forever.
Ahmed Jan 23, 2013 03:56pm
please call him an indian Muslim if u like (he certainly seems to project the indian definition of Islam) but dont call him a Muslim
Indian Jan 23, 2013 04:16pm
publicity hungry comment from a man who has got everything from this country. look at his career for last 4-5 years- not even a single hit. he has stooped to such low these days that he earns by dancing at marriages. no wonder he is playing this minority card as a last bet to come back to focus. such a pathetic looser. he is not half as good as actor as aamir. but look how these two men conduct themselves in public and you will see the difference
usa Jan 23, 2013 04:27pm
just publicity.......its srk mania
Hamid Jan 23, 2013 05:58pm
Yusuf Khan is real name of Dilip Kumar
Yogi Jan 23, 2013 06:04pm
Why dont Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Imran Khan, Saif Ali Khan and other Khans ever get detained at airports or are questioned ? Something is fishy about his claim.
rafiq meghani Jan 23, 2013 06:10pm
na ghar ka, na ghat ka
rafiq meghani Jan 23, 2013 06:11pm
Yousuf Khan, note it down for future reference
coolgarg Jan 23, 2013 07:15pm
India is the safest place for muslim on earth, take my words bro. dont just look at isolated instances. May be pakistan is worst place for muslim/
G.A. Jan 23, 2013 10:23pm
I find Indian Muslims to be more vocal about their criticism of Pakistan. It's become a force of habit for them to try and prove their loyalty even in a Pakistani home with no Hindus around. Also, I have yet to meet a single Indian Muslim who is pro-Pakistan.
Manoj Jan 24, 2013 12:14am
Otherwise Bal Thakre was not needed, but I miss him because as long as he lived, he kept nautanki like SRKs in check.
Balwanjee Jan 24, 2013 12:26am
It is an ambiguous comment. Could someone please elaborate it?
andy (ON, Canada) Jan 24, 2013 12:57am
you seem to know more things than even Salman and Aamir know about themselves!
Neptune Srimal Jan 24, 2013 01:42am
Mohammad Yusuf Khan. Both SRK and Dilip Kumar, as well as Raj Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Vinod Khanna and Madhubala are from Peshawar. In modern times -- the Taliban would possibly kill them all for daring to do acting.Taliban bombed Tasveer Mahal movie hall several times, which also is in the same locality, Dhakki, from where these greats are. I wonder how many more talented artists would have flourished here if the condition was not so difficult.
ummemuhammed Jan 24, 2013 05:04am
Simple. Just like US is happy with Saudia's monarchy and dictatorship because they obey the US, but if they refused to, US would want 'an end to dictatorship, liberation of the people and democracy' in a hope of planting a puppet government...
Azfar Jan 24, 2013 05:16am
We have Reema Khan...:P
Samresh Jan 24, 2013 01:19pm
So only a Pakistani muslim is a muslim. An Arab would beg to differ.
Samresh Jan 24, 2013 01:17pm
Try Owaisi
logical Jan 24, 2013 06:08am
Aslam is talking about Muslims as an individuals not as a country or government.Learn to read before you answer.
raja hindustani Jan 24, 2013 06:08am
Why pakistanis loves only KHANs..?? why not kumar, roshan or other non-muslims actors???
AA Jan 24, 2013 06:18am
Shahrukh just trying to get attention,If he was interogated at US airport so what? In united states we really do not care who's arriving at our Airports we just do our jobs. Shahrukh khan if today in America we suspect every muslims to be terrorist think and ask yourself who made us to do your brothers and sisters, We always welcome everyone regardless of race and religion but now we re opening our eyes and start seeing difference between friend and enemy so please if you do not like to be questioned do not come to usa

Cyrus Howell Jan 24, 2013 02:45pm
He can't help it. In his magazine pose I see Christiano Renaldo, a guy who has a mirror on every wall of his house to admire himself throughout the day.
Zimbo_Indian Jan 24, 2013 03:38pm
It is my observation that Muslims are more conscious of their religion than followers of other faiths. Thus they demand shariah when they are in majority in a country. This appears as fanaticism to others. However Muslims are also pragmatic when they are in a non-Muslim society. So when they are in minority, they (pretend to) support secularism. This inability to rise above religion is the root cause of backwardness of Muslims in all areas of human endeavour except terrorism.
Murali Jan 24, 2013 05:28pm
Surprised at this ignorant and shamelessly brazen rant. Some muslims in Pakistan are in fact fourth rate citizens. Are you unaware of it or pretending to be unaware?
Akram Jan 24, 2013 05:57pm
Thats wrong. We are fans of Bachchans as well!!
Akram Jan 24, 2013 06:01pm
You should be illogical.
Lakhkar Khan Jan 24, 2013 09:52pm
Yogi, you are pethetic.
Lakhkar Khan Jan 24, 2013 10:00pm
No, but they are too busy taking jobs in Indian film industry. Any question?
Lakhkar Khan Jan 24, 2013 10:03pm
I am one of them who does not want, especially the Taliban version or Sharia. I am sure there are many more like me.
Lakhkar Khan Jan 24, 2013 10:05pm
His name is Yousaf Khan and always will be. I am sure you know his real name too but just wanted to say that.
Lakhkar Khan Jan 24, 2013 10:08pm
AA, you started nicely but at the end, you earned yourself a D.
G.A. Jan 24, 2013 10:20pm
People love SRK in both India and Pakistan. Right now people in Pakistan are crazy about Ranbir Kapoor. Before that it was Shahid Kapoor and Rhithik Roshan. At least that's what I see on social media from Pakistanis. So you are completely off base with your comment.
Anush Singh Jan 25, 2013 03:00am
Rafiq: We in India love our muslim, Sikh and Christian brothers and sisters. Unlike you guys where you cannot tolerate Shias, Ahmedis and other sects within Islam. And ask your grand parents about the origin of your last name coz its really not Arabic. Maybe you'll learn something about your ancestors. Anush
Anush Singh Jan 25, 2013 03:05am
Hamid: We love Shahrukh Khan more than you can imagine, simply because you have never learnt the meaning of loving someone who is different from you. He did not become a super star because of Pakistanis, but millions of Indians who adored him and the other Khans. So why not use your life to spread the message or peace and love and live a happy positive life. At this rate you are sure to get a heart attack or piles. So wake up before it is late. As the Mayan faisco has proven, the judgement day may be very far off or may never happen. So don't waste the life you have for the heaven you may never see. Anush
Anush Singh Jan 25, 2013 03:08am
SJ: Because India does not demand all her Citizen to be of a particular religion and have a homogenous naming style to be a Citizen. Wish someone could tell you the concept of Unity in diversity. But thats too alien to someone who is brain washed by an Army hell bent on controlling you like cattle. Good luck and may Allah show some mercy on you. Anush
Anush Singh Jan 25, 2013 03:11am
Mehrazar: Thank you very much. We all love Shahrukh. And I think he has the basic right to speak his mind as a free citizen of India. The crazies who are criticizing him have not understood the concept of democracy because they've never seen one. May God have mercy on their souls (if any) and show them the path to peace and happiness in a world without bearded dragons breathing fires of hatred. FYI. Anush was the grandson of the Prophet (P.B.U.H) Anush
Anush Singh Jan 25, 2013 03:12am
AA: If someone is profiled based on their religion, ethnicity etc. then thats sad. And you are talking as if you represent all of us in the US. Go get a job and contribute to the economy. I do. Anush
Anush Singh Jan 25, 2013 03:18am
I meant the grand son of Adam, Anush bin Shiith. And it has meanings in Sanskrit as well. One of the names of Vishnu. So much for the manufactured hate to separate people. Anush
Shahbaz Jan 25, 2013 06:25am
Not only Muslims Like KHAN's But Most Indian HINDUS Like them too, just because mostly KHAN'S Have the talent so the audience like them even they are MUSLIMS. Sorry to say your point was invalid.
Roshan Jan 25, 2013 06:55am
Bal thakare not necessary, his son Uddhav thankare alos enought to check him.
