KARACHI: India levelled their five-match one-day international series 1-1 as they crushed England with a 127-run win on Tuesday in Kochi.

MS Dhoni won the toss and elected to bat first as India set the tourists a target of 286 runs to win. Dhoni scored 72 as Ravindra Jadeja made 61 before India ripped through the England batting line up in just 36 overs.

Suresh Raina with 55 and Yuvraj Singh with 32 also contributed to India's comprehensive score.

Kevin Pietersen was England's top scorer with 42 runs which were in vain as England were bowled out after scoring just 158. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, with figures of 29-3 and Ravi Ashwin with 39-3 were instrumental in England's quick demise.

England captain Alastair Cook admitted that India put his side under pressure.

"We were outbatted today. Those first ten overs we had a chance to get three four wickets, we didnt quite do that. Finn bowled well. Credit to India they put us under pressure," he said.

Dhoni said India's batting had been responsible and the reason they had recorded a comprehensive win.

"Responsibility was on the batsman. Initially, when I and Raina had a partnership, we thought let us look for 240 or 250, and then when we are settled, lets target 260, we ended up getting 15 more. To go and play at my city (Ranchi) in the next match will be very special," Dhoni said.

The third ODI will be played on January 19.
