ISLAMABAD: During Tuesday's hearing of a case pertaining to electoral reforms, Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said that regardless of what anyone does, the general elections would take place on the scheduled time, DawnNews reported.

The chief justice remarked that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) should be ready with its arrangements for the general elections.

He further inquired as to what preparations had the ECP made for the elections.

The petition over electoral reforms was filed by the Workers Party of Pakistan.

Moreover, an emergency meeting was held in the Supreme Court over a reference filed on the elections.

During the meeting, Chief Election Commissioner Fakhruddin G Ebrahim said the elections would be held on time and no delay would be accepted in this regard.

The meeting also reviewed the process of door-to-door voter verification in Karachi.
