Measles awareness

Published Jan 10, 2013 12:05am

THE recent outbreak of measles in Sindh has engulfed many lives of innocent children. Poor immunisation seems to be the major reason behind the frequent outbreaks of the disease, while poor sanitation, malnutrition, lack of awareness, false beliefs about the disease are the other important causes behind the spread of the disease.

It is easily treatable and further loss of precious lives can be prevented just by awareness and vaccination. The expanded programme on immunisation and the Sindh health department should immediately launch a vaccination campaign.

I am in your favor abbas, most of the children dying from measles due to no any awareness about the disease to the people of Pakistan, its government responsibilities to provide more facilities to prevent child from measles because it is viral infection and can spread to other children through air born droplet, this is only limited in Pakistan and most of the people have no any idea about vaccination like measles vaccine or in combination like Measles Mump Rubella (MMR),therefore Pakistani government should start health education in community to prevent children from measles that people have ability and knowledge about measles vaccine to bring their children and do vaccination that’s why mostly people refuse to do vaccination to their children because of no any awareness. Other countries have eradicated measles through their health education in the community and took this disease as a minor health problem. Pakistani government should march forward like as other countries. Because only government can control this health problem.
