BAGHDAD: Iraq has issued a tender to buy a minimum of 15,000 tonnes of basmati rice of Indian and Pakistani origin, a trade ministry statement said on Tuesday.

The bidding deadline is Jan. 22 and offers must remain valid until Jan. 27, the statement said.

Iraq is one of the world’s largest importers of rice, much of which goes to supply a massive national food ration programme.
