I WOULD like to refer to the two letters (Dec 22 and 28) about M.M. Alam’s sickness. He is under treatment at PN Shifa at ward 10 bed No.1 (ICU) and I had the opportunity to visit him on Dec 25 but could not meet him personally as he was fast asleep and I just saw him.
I came back. Later on his attendant informed him about me and I learned that he regretted not having met me.
Now I too would relate about our friendship since 1947 when both the families mirgrated to Dhaka (former East Pakistan) from Calcutta ( West Bengal). There were many instances of our adventurous life in Dhaka. I too took training with SAS and the leader Muchowski (Polish) was our trainer. We used to fly over the Buriganga river and far - off places to enjoy flying. Alam was a man of extraordinary courage and chivalry. He was inclined towards religion since his boyhood. He later joined the PAF and after that I met him once some time perhaps in 1958 when he was a flying officer. He invited me for dinner at Musroor Airbase, thereafter we did not meet each other until I saw him in PN Shifa on Dec 25, 2012.
I pray to Almighty Allah to grant him a long life and sound health. We enjoyed good and cordial family relations.
